Program Description
Approved by the New York City Department of Buildings (DOB), the 8-Hour Site Safety Manager Refresher/Chapter 33 Training course is designed for individuals seeking to renew their Site Safety Manager Certifications. This refresher program revisits the comprehensive content covered in the 40-Hour Site Safety Manager Course, focusing on Chapter 33 and the New York City Rules and Building and Construction Codes related to ensuring public safety.
Participants will review the potential hazards specific to the New York City construction environment, delving into the critical methods and work practices necessary to ensure the safety of both employees and the public. Through this training, individuals will reinforce their knowledge and skills, enabling them to effectively navigate and manage safety protocols on urban construction sites.
To renew a Site Safety Manager Certificate, the applicant must complete 8 hours of refresher training as mandated by Title 1 of the Rules of the City of New York § 104-06 Continuing Education Requirements.
To renew a Site Safety Coordinator Certificate, the applicant must complete 8 hours of refresher training as mandated by Title 1 of the Rules of the City of New York § 104-06 Continuing Education Requirements.
In order to continue to operate in the City of New York, the designated construction worker is required to complete a minimum number of hours of approved site safety training and to carry site safety identification cards as proof of completion of the training (As per New York City Local Law 196 of 2017, also known as ‘LL196’ or ‘Local Law’). This course provides eight hours towards the satisfaction of that requirement.

- Construction Fire Protection and Prevention
- Define construction fire protection and prevention methods that comply with the New York City Fire Code.
- Communication Procedures
- Describe communication procedures between New York City Department of Buildings and licensed site safety professionals.
- OSHA Standards vs. Chapter 33 Regulations
- Distinguish between the OSHA standards and New York City Department of Buildings Chapter 33 regulations.

The cost of this course is all-inclusive, covering all applicable processing, administrative, and material fees.
Format: Online or In-Person Training
This training program takes at least eight (8) hours to complete You are required to participate fully in class (this includes completing any assigned quizzes or demos), attend the course for the complete number of hours required, and score at least a 70% on the final exam to successfully complete the program and receive SST course credit. This program alone (without an OSHA 30 card, or OSHA 10 card with other applicable SST course credits) will not merit an SST card.
