Control Silica Dust Before It Reaches Your Lungs
Practical, OSHA-focused training for workers and employers who need to recognize silica hazards, understand exposure controls, and work more safely around dust-producing tasks.
- Construction-focused silica hazard awareness
- OSHA Table 1 tasks and exposure controls
- Worker and competent-person responsibilities
How the Training Works
Participants learn where silica exposure occurs, how OSHA requires employers to control it, and which work practices help reduce airborne dust.
Recognize the Hazard
Identify materials and tasks that may release respirable crystalline silica, along with the serious health effects of repeated exposure.
Understand the Controls
Review wet methods, local exhaust ventilation, HEPA-filtered cleanup, respiratory protection, and OSHA Table 1 requirements.
Apply the Work Plan
Connect the written exposure control plan, competent-person duties, inspections, housekeeping, and worker communication to the actual jobsite.
Build Safer Silica Work Practices
Training focuses on the information workers and supervisors need before, during, and after dust-producing construction activities.
OSHA Standards & Exposure Limits
Construction-industry standard for occupational exposure to respirable crystalline silica.
General-industry and maritime standard for respirable crystalline silica.
Permissible exposure limit calculated as an 8-hour time-weighted average.
Exposure level that can trigger employer assessment and other requirements.
Silica Awareness Training
For workers, supervisors, and employers who need practical knowledge of respirable crystalline silica hazards and exposure-control methods.

Silica Training FAQ
Who should take silica awareness training?
Workers, supervisors, and employers involved with concrete, masonry, stone, mortar, sand, or other silica-containing materials can benefit—especially when tasks generate airborne dust.
Does this course make someone a competent person?
The course can support the knowledge needed for competent-person duties, but the employer must designate a person who is capable of identifying silica hazards and authorized to take prompt corrective action.
Does training replace the employer's OSHA compliance program?
No. Employers remain responsible for the written exposure control plan, exposure assessment, engineering and work-practice controls, required respirators, medical surveillance, recordkeeping, and equipment-specific procedures.
Can my company schedule group training?
Yes. Company and group sessions can be arranged. Submit the registration form with the number of participants, work activities, location, and preferred schedule.
